Arc Inspiratons have worked with local architects and London designers to create a unique restaurant and bar for the vibrant Headingley market.  The external building will have striking new lighting and signage. 

With the addition of intimate curved booths and furnishings to match, Trio hope the restaurant will have a more relaxed feel to it.

The menu will include an array of dishes to suit everyone’s taste.  International favourites will be available from their famous wood fired oven and chargrill, complimented by a new tandoori oven and sous vide style of cooking.

Relaunch date: Tuesday 19th June.  Trio Restaurant will be closed from Tuesday 5th June but the Basement Bar and Skippy’s Cocktail bar will both be open when the refurbishment is going on.

Get ready to enjoy plenty of good music around Headingley!

The first festival took place in 2010 and brought together individuals and local businesses in a week of music events. Since then new people and new ideas have brought us to our third year, and we think, our most diverse programme yet. The Festival is run entirely by volunteers, and works in partnership with other local organisations including Older Wiser Local Seniors (OWLS), Shire Oak Primary School, Leeds Combined Arts, Irish Arts Foundation, ArtForms, and local businesses including Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre (HEART) and Café Lento.

The Heaedingley Music Festival 2012 runs from Wednesday 6th - Sunday 17th June and kicks off with Mike Conliffe Trio at HEART playing new arrangements of Bach, Chopin and Ahmad Jamal.  ‘Sharp Intake’, a six piece Leeds band, will entertain at the Farmers Market on  Saturday 7th June, with a wide variety of music ranging from Duke Ellington and Fats Waller to Gerry Mulligan and Van Morrison.

Making their first appearance at the fesival will be ‘Los Camarados’ a community Salsa Band which includes around 20 people including vocals, trumpets, trombones, flutes, saxes, bass, piano, timbales and other Latin percussion.  Kate Peters Jazz Septet will be at The New Headingley Club on 13th June supported by Alexis Cairns Quartet.  On 14th June, singer/songwriter Paul Buckley plays a heady cocktail of folk blues and jazz, and on Friday 15th June, Al Morrison’s Blues Experience, an 11-piece band will celebrate the music of the great blues artists - both at HEART.

Returning for the third year on the first Sunday of the festival is ‘Voices of the Day’ Gospel and Soul Choir, fronted by Rev Chunky Butt Funky (Cleve Freckleton) at South Parade Baptist Church.  Other events include  an Irish Music Evening at HEART, and a traditional family Ceilidh with ‘Roots Alive’ at St. Chad’s Parish Hall on Saturday 16th June.

Cafe Lento, which has just won Jazz Yorkshire’s Venue of the Year 2012 will host Tarantismo, who will bring a touch of the Buena Vista Social Club to the festival, and ‘Tantz’ a Leeds-based Klezmer/Jazz/Gypsy Band, plus acoustic sessions.

The West Yorkshire Police Brass Band present a concert at Headingley Methodist Church on Sunday 17th June.  Last but not least, COMA (Contemporary Music for All) will play at HEART on Wednesday 20th June.  The event will premiere new work by composer Alison Wrenn, inspired by a little-known piece of Leeds’ history, commissioned and played by YLSS (Yorkshire Late Starters Strings).

As part of the Be a Champion project inspired by the Olympics and in association with CALM volunteering at Leeds Met Student Union, the Tea and Cake with the Community event will include a cake competition which will be judged by local guests.  As well as this, Be a Champion will be taking part in assisting with the world record attempt of creating the world’s longest bunting which is being organised by the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and are also involved with The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee:60:60 Campaign which is celebrating 60 Years service by people taking part in 60 minutes of volunteering.
