Love’s Lingo

In honour of Velentine’s Day, commissioned and published writer Becky Cherriman will take you on a poetic journey through the vast lexicon of love.  this will take place in the HEART Cafe at 8pm on Friday 10 February as a preliminary event for the LitFest ‘proper’ in mid-March.

Don’t expect it all to be hearts and flowers! Becky’s work is known for its honest and often uncomfortable intensity.  The evening will also feature live music from Maggie 8 and a reading from poet, Claire Neruda.

Tickets on the door will be just six pounds - and that includes a drink.

Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow will mark a golden decade of his career when Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos take on Championship Champions Featherstone Rovers at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Friday 20th January, kick off 8pm.

Burrow became the first player in Super League history to win the Harry Sunderland Award twice in the Grand Final as man of the match with his performance last year against St Helens.  The opponent for his testimonial match is particularly poignant for Burrow who started his rugby career at amateur club Featherstone Lions.

The fixture is the third confirmed pre-season game for the Rhinos.  They took on Wakefield in the Festive Challenge on Boxing Day and have also confirmed a combined first team Under 20 side fixture at Whitehaven on Sunday 29th January, kick off 2pm.

Head Coach Brian McDermott says the Featherstone game will play a big part in his side’s preparations for the start of the new 2012 season.

Tickets are £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and just £5 for juniors which is for all areas of the ground, whether seating or standing.  Tickets are available to purchase from the ticket office or fans can pay on the night at the turnstile.  Hospitality packages are also available including a two course meal and seating tickedts for £45 per person.  To book call 0113 2033222 and all proceeds to to the Rob Burrow Testimonial Fund.
